I suspect the "systems" judgment is political, particularly when you mean you can't get a policy proposal through congress. No, that would be a political judgment. I was trying very directly to differentiate. I'm talking about the actual physical unreality of collecting and destroying a bazillion guns and obviating the production/import of replacements. It's the same as the unreality of collecting and deporting a bazillion illegal immigrants. The politics is a side issue if the objective is physically unfeasible. Perhaps in a different political climate. No political climate short of the acceptance of a monster totalitarianism will change that physical reality and even that likely would work.
