they're all statists in Washington Well said. They are all after the levers of power even if they claim to despise the existence of such levers. I miss the mellow Republicans like Jerry Ford. They can't do much in a crisis but they keep a pretty even keel the rest of the time. I can't think of any grand ideological causes on McCain's agenda apart from campaign reform. He is still on my short list to watch and listen to more once the campaign gets going next year. Any other mellow Repubs out there in the wings? I know Romney by name but nothing else about him.
