Most of the baby boomers have been out of the prime crime years for a long time. Despite that fact I agree that demographics probably is a significant factor in the decline but if more guns meant more crime to any significant amount it would be unlikely that moderate to strong declines in crime would be sustained over a period where gun ownership rates and the number of guns in the country has exploded.
