You have some good people working for you. Your union steward must have the best interests of the company somewhere near the top of his/her priorities. You can bet a guy like that went straight to the shop steward and then to the union hall. Your post made me realize that unions should make companies much more careful about who they hire and about checking their references. I have been fortunate to never work in a union shop. Our various family companies have always been either small enough or the people felt appreciated and the organizers couldn't get a foot in the door.
