That's perfectly true and I have already tried to point out what they had to do (in terms of the way I understood the Jewish religion) to regain the Promised Land. Clearly, matters came to head in the 19th Century with Theodor Hertlz who had a different idea, namely, that the Jews should have their own secular state -- a state which, in fact, was not even intended to be in the Middle East but nevertheless their own country. Indeed, both Madagascar and Uganda were mooted as possible places where this could be. The idea that this haven could actually be at the place of the Promised Land came about later. But the point of my argument is that the aspiration for the present Israel was not a religious one per se but a very practical and pragmatic one. You can hold God responsible but blaming anyone or anything but yourselves won't help. And actually, I think the Jews, certainly the militant ones, hate the Muslims far more than they hate the Christians. In fact, they like the Christians because the Christians are doing their dirty work.
