My opinion is that the American people have a right to determine what the laws are. In some states they voted for the Nineteenth Amendment to allow taxation of Income; in other states the legislatures voted to allow it. Which Amendment explicitly authorized robbing the dead?

Laws passed by Congress are inferior in many ways to Constitutional Amendment. Of course the laws must comply with the Constitution, and new Amendments become part of that otherwise static document. But more importantly, it is the direct will of the people to impose their values upon the country. There is a reason the Amendment process is difficult but not insurmountable.

While I may not like the Income Tax, it is the will of the people that made it possible to have one. Tariffs might have been a good revenue source two hundred years ago. In today's global economy they can be very deleterious.
