There's a difference between not wanting to pay for huge masses of economic refugees and not wanting them for racial reasons.

Yes, I imagine that if North Korea looked like it would go the way of East Germany, that South Koreans would be please with the removal of the threat of attack from the North, and many would feel a certain sense of pride about having won the long "cold war" (which was occationally "hot") and/or reunifying their country, but they would be quite concerned about supporting the people in the North and also dealing with the potential of millions from the North heading South looking for work or handouts.
