Because the homicide rate is partly demographic, and could be influenced by the proportion of young men in society at any given time (I can't remember the exact age that is most liable to kill- but it's something like 16-25), I think the increase or decrease in family killings would tell you more about the problems with gun ownership, or lack thereof. Statistically, aren't people in this country not more likely to be killed by a relative than a stranger? I thought I had read that. But perhaps I remember wrong.
