The two illustrations--gun control and TV censorship--still strike me as sufficiently disparate to require different analyses and are addressed by different solutions. I respect "doing something" in the face of these challenges. The only thing that bugs me is when those who are in that mode lose track of the reality that it's mostly feel good rather than productive. I certainly agree in the abstract but have the very strong suspicion we would disagree in the particular. Past history and all that.
