Clearly you have never conducted a real life test using your examples.... unless, of course, your definition of "nearly as fast" is different from mine. Why not try it and then get back to us from that machine.

by far the vast majority of people still get the bulk of their information, or disinformation, from the exact same mainstream sources as before.



What people were able to profit from was both information and disinformation. That was my point. Gilder was right about the added value offered by the net, but knowing that wouldn't have made you any money. Believing Hienz turned out to be more fruitful but you only got a chance to read what he wrote because Gilder was right. Disinformation in the situation where the crowd determines outcomes is always far more profitable.
