My recollection is that the feminist movement was rejected by blacks, in general. I remember idiots like Stokely Carmichael saying that the position of women in the civil rights movement was prone (I assume he meant supine). Feminism was rejected because it gave women the power to say "no" to being sex objects and toys.

But it doesn't have to be either-or, education or feminism. When you've got 80% of young women in some populations having children with no father around, that's a public health crisis.
