Government receipts, in real terms, are not way up. In fact, government receipts, as a % of GDP are way down.

The left resembles my wife. She grew up in a traditional family where the mother spent all or more than their income every month while the father worked to support them. He resented never being allowed to spend money, but he had the honor to stick with the marital arrangement. Whenever we discuss money if my response is not "sure, go over the budget, spend as much as you want" she complains that I don't earn enough. Since I generally report a multiple of the average income, the argument does not carry any weight with me.

If there is a budget shortfall the left always complain that the government is not confiscating enough. when fiscal responsibility is the subject they whine that we are not increasing spending fast enough.
