Folks on this thread attack the NYT relentlessly. I read the main section every day and I cant see how intelligent folks can do without the info thats contained. There are only a couple of other papers in the US that give you as much meat. I look for abuses in news reporting and find very little. I look for front page stories that should be on back pages and visa versa and find very little of that. I read John Burns on Iraq each day and no one is better or more fair than he. But the right rants on about the NYT mostly because of the left bias of the editors and three of the op editors. Andy Rooney was on IMUS this morning and they briefly talked about rather. Rooney is a very liberal guy but he had no problem attacking Rather for wearing his ideology on his sleeve while ostensibly reporting the news as anchor. He compared him very unfavorably to Cronkite who neve did this. And although old walter is quite the leftwinger these days, i can attest to the fact that no one knew who watched CBS news ever knew his politics with the possible exception of his anti-war editorial on vietnam. These are distinctions the right needs to make and stop blathering like rush and coulter do.
