Since young women bear the brunt of the costs of this behavior, they are the ones with the most to gain if the behavior changes. Yes, although as it is I don't think they see the costs of their behavior in as negative light as those of us outside do. Having been inside the homes of young women living in subsidized housing, and seeing their interactions with their children and their neighbors, they seem comfortable in their environments. I don't think they believe that they can have better lives.
