Ted, You're kidding? Nearly the entire world hates Bush and you think we are irrational for acknowledging their position?

The hatred of Bush gets way out of hand at times.

Does it? Wonder if it isn't out of hand, but only seems that way to you? To be honest, there is a very real possibility that the latter is true.

Yeah, Bush should be faulted for not being diplomatic enough, but the way some of his opponents in politics and the media talk, you get the impression that they want to bend over backwards to accomodate nations like France and Germany.

There are over 180 countries in the world; very few are allies of the US; even less of those are peers to the US. I don't expect the US to bend over backwards for that latter group, but I expect my gov't to deal with them somewhat rationally and civilly.

Unfortunately, Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld dealt with Germany/France much like the right dealt with those who didn't agree with them in this country........badly, rudely and at times, crudely. Its one thing to do it to your opponents within the same country and quite another with your allies/friends. Germany/France responded accordingly.

Bottomline: Bush and company were not prepared to be the leaders of this nation. They did not have the complexity of skills for such a demanding job. Plus, they had a rather obnoxious agenda. Consequently, the whole thing backfired in their faces.

Where the problem comes is you don't see the above very clearly.........consequently, you don't think they are as bad as the rest of the world thinks they are. So then when you hear the reaction from the rest of the world......you are perplexed and assume they are overreacting.

But let me point out......where you are now with Bush et al, some of the rest of us were at that same place right after he got elected in 2000. Think of how many degrees and years separate us.

You know just as well as I do that other nations have agendas of their own.

Of course, but when those agendas kill lots of people and cause untold damage and threaten the instability of the world, everything changes. What was once an agenda has turned the US into a semi rogue country that has become unpredictable. That worries a lot of lesser nations in the world as well as American allies.
