Clinton took over the recovery from the recession caused by a minimum wage hike Democrats pushed through on President Bush 41. It was made worse by a second whammy of minimum wage hike 2 years later. The recovery from the minimum wage hikes was in full swing when Clinton got elected because the biased liberal press suppressed the economic news. You do have to credit Robert Rubin for keeping the Whitehouse's socialist tendencies from increasing spending to excessively. If not for Rubin, Clinton probably could not have won reelection.
