Wolfowitz is a very thoughtful person. I like him. But the US Senate didn't vote 77-22 to invade Iraq in order to bring democracy to the Middle East.

Maybe in an ideal world we'd invade countries that are more-or-less leaving the rest of the world alone because their leaders are shits and the people are oppressed.

Ah, yes, but where to begin?

Not to mention the fact that one of Bush's own campaign platforms and promises was that the US wasn't going to be the policeman to the world or engage in nation building. You could look it up.
