Looks like an Anandtech error. The newegg prices haven't dropped and the Anandtech X2 4200+ link actually goes to Corsair memory priced at $296.

The Pentium D 805 is now up to the #3 spot in the newegg CPU popularity list and is the most popular dual core CPU, thanks to the recent 805 price cuts and introduction of the AM2 X2 3800+ to syphon off some 939 X2 3800+ sales. I wouldn't doubt that the cheap single-core A64 prices are negatively affecting X2 3800+ sales too.
