"Too many are becoming like the citizens of ancient Rome, and are taking little interest in what is best for the nation, engaging in amoral acts and thoughts, and fooling themselves into thinking that they can never be hurt."

Well said, haqihana.

Exactly, liberals carry immense guilt for various reasons. Liberalism gives them a way to relieve the guilt by dispatching government to honor their personal commitments.

Hallywood liberals for instance feel guilty because they know they were lucky to get into the club and they get so much for so little effort. By climbing a tree and saying someone else should give land to illegal immigrants they assuage their guilt, but do nothing to fix the problem. How many Hallywood types have showed up to help the Minutemen patrol the border to help enforce the laws?

Poverty and welfare queens feel guilt because they know they are a drain on society yet they persist in sucking the well dry. For them asking for government largesse not only relieves their guilt but it makes them a direct beneficiary.

Between the extremes that are many other types of guilt suffered by liberals.
