New Zealand is also high on my list. I have a friend who makes quarterly business trips to Sydney from Chicago. He is a big guy. He tells me that the flight is a killer. I do a lot of sleeping and reading when I fly, but I suspect that a flight that long would leave me a bit agitated. When my father was shipped over to India during WWII, the ship passed by Australia. No stop over. They shipped him home in the other direction. My mother saved the Western Union letter that he sent to her when he landed in New York.

Taking a cruise would probably be the way to go..you wouldn't have to unpack but once, and you'd have the comfort of your own stateroom...BUT it would take much longer. I guess it depends on your itinerary.
