Crimson > The Presbyterian Church (USA) has passed a resolution apologizing for the pain caused by a decision two years ago on Israel and Palestine. The General Assembly voted two years ago to divest from companies profiting from Israel's occupation of the West Bank and Gaza.

You will recall that I mentioned some while ago that such a move was both negative and unconstructive and, in fact, it has redounded against the Presbyterian church itself.

Far more effective and constructive would have been investment in Palestinian enterprises. Had they done that the "message" would have come through and there would have been no need for an apology which, in fact, benefits no one. Hence, in retrospect, one can say their investment action was purely cosmetic and has been exposed as hypocritical.
