(My, how short memories are. :-) Simply refer to the statements of the House Majority Leader (at that time) Newt Gingrich. Or any of the other Republican leaders at the time... say, in the Senate. Or look at the vote count (House AND Senate) on the resolutions expressing disapproval and asking for pull-out. That's exactly what you will see....
