" there is more nudity on TV. Things couldn't be better"

On this we agree. We do live in good times.

As for Iraq the question of staying or going isn't necessary one of disaster if the US pulls out.

As much as we demonize the insurgents in Iraq I don't think its too hard to understand the motivation of probably a large percentage of them. The US is a Christian occupying Army in a Muslim nation. All occupations have faced an insurgency. If the US was somehow invaded and taken over by a foreign power (heaven forbid) US citizens would form into resistance groups to fight and preserve their way of life. To certain extent the problems in Iraq are being caused by the occupation.

We tend to assume our way is the right way. What I think is true is that our way is the right way for us. I'm not surprised our notions of liberty and freedom are going over like a lead balloon in Iraq for many who live there.

That’s why I think Bush was naive to go to Iraq. He loves America and assumed everyone else just wants to be like Americans. That’s not so true - especially in the M.E. where things are really weird. He thought the US Army would be greeted the way they were in WW II France. Like I say naive.

Pulling out may end a lot of the hostilities in Iraq as the occupying Army leaves. Maybe letting the Sunni and Shites fight it out once and for all and separate into separate states is the way to go. Why is it the US's burden to try to keep two tribes of people who hate each other's guts together in one country?
