The EASIEST opportunity for that was during the Reagan/Bush years, during the later stages of the Iran/Iraq Gulf War. All we had to do was sit on our hands and he would have been toppled. Instead we pulled his bacon out of the fire, thereby insuring that he would remain in power --- and develop into the thorn in our side we have regretted ever since.
