The data I saw recently don't show much change in net worth of the richest segment 2000-2004. Their income continued to rise though while wages of the lower 80% are rising by less than inflation.

But the rich have a negative savings rate:

(as capital gains including stock options aren't included in personal income).

This data in the linked paper is very strange - the poor save and the rich don't!
