With regard to the potential North Korean missile launch, I'm curious to hear the views from members of this forum.

e. Aim every missile we have at NK and tell them if that thing even looks like its coming at us, we launch.

Why else have all this nuclear capacity if not for its deterrent effect?

The US should do nothing regarding North Korea. It is a problem for South Korea, China, Japan and others in the region. Ignore them.

Same with Iran. It is EU problem, Russia, Israel etc. Ignore them also. Better yet trade with them to keep the country open as much as possible and eventually the Persians will change to their historical selves. Do not Castroize them.

1. Watch the launch.

2. Determine if the trajectory is headed toward the US or any of its Pacific possessions.

3. If so, destroy the missile when it leaves NK airspace.

4. Send the photos to CNN and BBC so they can accuse the US of illegally intervening with a legitimate scientific experiment.

5. Task the EPA and NASA to assess the global warming effect of the launch and any necessary shoot down.

Not in my job description to make a decision as to the best course of action in advance, unless they give me sufficient information in advance, which I doubt they will, they never do.

But after they act, and all the information is released because that's what they do, they wait and all the different sides spin their own versions, well, given sufficient information it is well within my job description to weigh the evidence after the fact and come to my own conclusion.

Pundits and reporters are supposed to have sources, so they aren't operating under the limitations most of the rest of us have.

Sounds like the government has ruled out b and c.

If they choose "a" I'll have no choice but to applaud their judgment in this matter.
