Why, many Muslims ask, should they have to speak out against, or apologize for, actions of radicals who do not represent them — people they do not even regard as true Muslims?

If the terrorist attacks were carried out by, say, Catholics, or Orthodox Christians, or Jews, or any number of Protestant sects....

would the Muslims understand if other members of the same religion that did the attacks, stood by and said nothing while, and after, the murderers did their vile deeds?
