Yes, and that's a red flag.

When a political piece assumes that the reader will get the implicit nexus, we can assume that the author is preaching to the choir. There's no need to offer explanations or to make logical arguments when preaching to the choir.

I judge that piece to be a populist rant. I have no fondness for either populism or rants.

I notice that you did not offer an explanation of the nexus in response to my comment. I was looking forward to reading the attempt. I figured it would be amusing. <g>
