via the Jpost, Fatah is claiming that the Damascus based head of Hamas, Khalid Mashaal, ordered the Hamas attack to torpedo the Fatah-Hamas agreement on the Prisoner's Document, which as of yesterday they were supposedly close to reaching.

If true, the Israelis should thank Mashaal imo. The Prisoners Document is an exercise in artful diplomatic ambiguity which would have had every useful fool in the West crying that Hamas just recognized Israel (It says no such thing in the document of course. It just omits overt claims to "territories occupied in '48" and demands a state in Jerusalem, WB & Gaza. It doesn't mention Israel or a two state solution, so you can interpret it to mean a two state solution or Arafat's 'Plan of Phases' as you please.)

PS. also via the Jpost. The Fatah-al Aqsa Brigades are claiming that they have developed chemical and biological weapons for use against the Israelis.
