Yeah right ... Peace in Iraq ... I'm in Argentina ... We arrived in Buenos Aires early Saturday morning. I got a little sleep and then went to the local cafe/bar with a big screen TV to see the epic Argentina-Mexico encounter yesterday. It was great. Argentina kept its composure after falling behind early and clearly scored a winner in added time. The replay showed that the linesman was wrong with the offside call. Lionel Messi should have scored on his 19th birthday. Instead, we were treated to one of the epic shots of all time, "MAXI GOAL," off the left boot of Maxi Rodriguez. He became an instant Argentine icon as Buenos Aires went into a frenzy with the overtime goal.

The fatalism of the Argentines I've met is bizarre. They're convinced the Germans are going to win next Friday. I keep telling them to get psyched. Regardless, my wife and I are going to take the ferry to Uruguay on Wednesday morning. So we'll probably be over there on Friday when the game takes place. I've always wanted to visit Montevideo. That seems like a nice place to seek out another cafe/bar with a big screen TV.
