John, in all truth, you are probably right. Many of us could be romanticizing this asian thing like we did the computer paradigm shift and YK2-lol. I would say it is a toss up which way things go and that is what makes prediciting tough. If you have more than one viable outcome. We go into a recession which causes a worldwide recession and people flock to US securities; or Bernanke throws a ton of money at the recession and the global market is fed the fuel it needs. But I think the whole world has just become so complicated we have no paths to show us the way. It is now more like hacking your way through the swamps of New Guinea- I once saw a documentary of a bunch of adventurers who hacked their way thorugh something like 100 miles of swamp in New Guines---good lord, I think of all the poisenous snakes-lol That is what is gong on in the world today and it will just get worse--we are all flying by the seat of our pants-lol. So something simple and profound and which can be simply understood like gold could reign king-lol.
