If we shoot down a missile, South Korea may not be too happy with us.

Isn't that Apples and Oranges? The US, or Japan, shoots down that N. Korean missile and Pyongyang decides to violate a 50 year old cease-fire directly attack S. Korea??

It's possible though..

Of course, it's possible Kim Jong Il has just been looking for a "casus belli" for re-invading S. Korea all along and that NOTHING we do will prevent that inevitability.
