AL Franken's family were Republicans until 1964 when Barry Goldwater refused to back the Civil Rights Act. Good reason to switch parties.

Hillary Clinton remained a conservative Republican until years later. She was a Goldwater girl cheerleader. Randy Rhodes of Air America was a combat veteran in the Air Force. She worked Starlifters dropping tanks and weapons for the Gulf War troops.
