The GOP took all the racists out of the democratic party and converted them to Republicans as a part of their "southern strategy". When Johnson signed the Civil rights Act in 1964 it pissed off all the racists, most of whom fled into the open arms of the GOP. Prior to 1964 it's true Dixiecrats were part of the Dem party and many were Jim Crow racists, including George Wallace. Democrats have mended their ways on racism, but the GOP has not. We saw clear evidence of that during and after Katrina. The GOP just didn't care because most of the victims were poor and black. And the modern GOP's #1 strategy for stealing elections these days is to disenfranchise black voters, just like they did back in the old Jim Crow days. If you support this, you are a racist too.
