Bush did not put in 5.5 years, he put in 4 years out of 6 required, and only weekend warrior slacker stuff with a champagne unit of the Guard which was formed to keep rich kids out of the war. Bush still owes the Guard two years, but was let out to go to Harvard early, which only could have happened for someone with a very powerful father who was then head of the RNC.
