As far as subsidizing their terrorist activities, I don't remember hearing any caveats in this nuke deal that would address terrorism in any way.

There's more to this deal than light reactors. There's also an opening of trade I believe.

I THINK Bush wants them to turn the deal down.

I don't think there are any easy answers at this point. Like everything Bush has touched, THIS will probably blow up too.

Iran asked for talks 3 years ago and Bush in his infinite wisdom just blew them off. They had a viable reform movement and a President that was somewhat pragmatic. If we had used that opportunity we might have gotten a break through.

But we did nothing but say bad things about Iran and now we've got this mess.

Another Bush accomplishment.

What Ahmadinejad wants can be trumped by mullahs. Are all the mullahs equivalent to Mao or are there some Chou En Lai and Teng mullahs in the mix? Thats a question to ask Sun, i guess. The more fundamental questions is whether iran will follow the arab model of oil wealth along with national and moral bankrupcy or the Chinese model of economic growth and political relaxation. The Arab model is easier for corrupt religous autocrats to follow but iran has typically as a nation wanted to move in the other direction.
