Bush's "fight against terrorism" has gone haywire when he let the personal ambitions of his oil buddies co-mingle with the war against terrorism. For Bush to be successful in his efforts he needed to concentrate on battling the rising tide of "Islamic fundamentalism". Those folks we call terrorist because they indulge in mass killings by falsely naming religion as a form of justification for their actions. We all know that Saddam was a secular Muslim and not a fundamentalist one. We all know that he killed people who opposed him personally. We all know that he did not use his faith to justify his killings but instead used Iraq nationalism as an excuse for his actions. So why on earth did Bush move against Saddam? The only reason that I can think of is to capture his oilfields. In the meantime, the tide of Islamic fundamentalism grows inspite of all the clandestine surveillance that Bush has ordered. You just have to look at Somalia to convince yourself that Bush has failed in his war.

Bushies say NY Times leaks about our civil liberties being stolen by an imperial White House who thinks it's above all laws are "disgraceful" but when they leak the name of a covert CIA operative during war-time (which is treason according to Bush Sr.) then it's just fine. And I didn't hear the rightwing complaining when the Ny Times was running stories about Clinton's sex life, which no one really had any business investigating in the first place.
