Didn't Ness have a record of prosecutions success. In that measure he would exceed Spitzer by far. Most of Spitzer's "wins" have been deals arranged after Spitzer demagogues his victim publicly and prior to risking a jury of the victim's peers. He has a few notable losses when cases went to trial. Spitzer has done a better job of creating political success from his style.

"For the Times if they are not charged it is a winning situation."

Quite the OPPOSITE --- they lose by being the butt of political attacks from the WH...

Perhaps a few more people will learn to regard the Times as the low life partisans they are, but mostly I suspect it will just reinforce their leadership of the leftwingnuts. Time will tell which view is more correct.

Congress --- in recent decades --- has acted in a spineless manner, abrogating most of their Constitutionally mandated responsibilities, and much of the current mess can be laid right on their doorstep because of that gutlessness.

That comment resembles President Bush in regards to legislation that should have been vetoed.
