Why don't they START OUT by *protecting* the COUNTRY and it's CITIZENS from their OWN depredations first????????

Pass a Constitutional amendment requiring a Balanced Budget out of Washington.

Pass a Constitution amendment establishing a basic privacy right for citizens....

THEN we can talk about trifles like this bogus election year pandering.

Did you notice that *BEFORE* the Senate had it's vote on the proposed Constitutional amendment, they FIRST voted down --- and by a BIG MARGIN --- a bill to criminalize flag burning?????????

That tells me that these 'honorable gentlepersons' PREFER to keep this issue around for the POLITICAL BENEFITS... to FIRE UP their bases and their FUND-RAISING drives.

They are trying to play the public like a two-bit fiddle. :-)

"...Prior to the vote on the amendment itself, the Senate voted 64 to 36 against a proposed bill that would have criminalized flag desecration."

Of course... there's always hope folks will tire of this demogogery:

"...Senator Mitch McConnell, Republican of Kentucky, is in line to become the Republican leader in the next Congress, and he opposes the initiative on free speech grounds."
