ZTE signs rural telecom deal with Tata Teleservices


Telecommunications equipment provider ZTE secured has been selected by India’s Tata Teleservices to deploy an all-IP cdma2000 solutions for rural telecom networks throughout India in the next three years.

In a statement, ZTE said the contract is worth “tens of millions of dollars.”

Under the deal, ZTE will construct the network covering India’s rural areas after it completes interoperability tests with Tata Teleservices.

The Indian telecoms market has experienced phenomenal growth in recent years, with the mobile subscriber base now over 100 million, reports said.

Rural telecom coverage is a critical focus for the Department of Telecommunications, India, because it will benefit rural consumers, who make up over 72% of the country‘s population.
