Again, I agree with most of what you say. And believe me, I'm gritting my teeth in taking a different approach to yours because deep down it's exactly what I'd love to do. The issue of advancing our values by going forward with the process of indicting the NY Slimes & allowing the chips to fall where they may could prove disastrous. For that reason, I reluctantly have to relent.

I want the NYT prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law with the caveat that it is done only if prosecutors can apply existing statutes to make a rock solid case. If not then the position you & McCarthy espoused should be applied with Congress creating new laws to ensure that future acts of treason by the NY Slimes will be successful.

Let's advance our values in the court of public opinion if we can't prosecute the NY Slimes with a rock solid case right now. IMO, it probably best to have this be a series of sure victories over time than risk a catastrophic loss (I.E. a Supreme Court ruling favoring the NY Slimes) because my burning desire to advance my values trumps a more pragmatic approach.

Rich, the Supreme Court ruling in the Hamdan case is why I reluctantly agreed with Andrew McCarthy. Watch how the MSM & DNC intentionally twist this horrific decision into "proof" that Bush is Eeeeevil & that the "gulag" Guantanamo should be closed, ET AL. They will take this & essentially rewrite history using this ruling as the ultimate "proof" they all the lies they have told in the past are now rock, solid fact.

And I've heard some legal experts say that this ruling may leave Congress with no way possible to pass legislation, etc., that would satisfy the specifics set forth in the decision. Let's hope these initial opinions based on a quick review of the ruling are mistaken.
