I guess you are aware that at least ONCE maybe more the money was SENT to NO to repair the levees but the money MYSTERIOUSLY disappeared and the levees never fixed. jdn

"how the environmentalists are responsible for what Katrina did to their environment..." That would be HILARIOUS if it weren't such a serious matter. Are the 'environmentalists' RESPONSIBLE for the massive loss of land to erosion since the DREDGING of the swamps began in the 1920s to enable the moving of heavy equipment for the oil industry through the area? HUNDREDS of square miles of land have been lost to the waters.... Are the 'environmentalists' responsible for the loss of protective wetlands, coastal forests, and barrier islands? Don't be silly. Levees are a REACTION to the man-made changes, the problems, that worsened the natural threat from storms --- they are NOT the solutions to those well-known problems. (Or, at least not anything like cost-effective solutions. :-)
