The rightwing used the internet to spread smearvet lies and lies about McCain and CLinton's sex life and other supposed "crimes" which were all phony baloney. Then the rightrwing used the net to smear outrageous lies about John Kerry. In other words, the rightwing started the mud-slinging.com business but now they can't take it. Sites like Drudge, Newsmax, CNS and Worldnetdaily were used exclusively for spreading false smear stories about democrats. Still are.

Democratic bloggers have fought back, but are much more honest. Sure you'll find the occasional site claiming Bush planned the 9-11 attacks, but for the most part democratic blogs and sites are credible. Rawstory.com is a perfect example of a site which is very partisan but also very credible and employes serious journalistic standards.
