It's Joe Soccer Mom's MEW money that is going to buy imported goods that is the source of the foreign funding.

Seems to me that shutting down the housing atm kills the goose that lays the golden eggs.

Risklove activity and behavior is a causa promixa (most think causa remota, but not me) of much of the inflationary boom activity. They need to be bloodied, and judging from their continued behavior after being taken to the woodshed last month, blooded hard, so they can't really come back.

Not all so called "Risklove" activity is speculation and carry trades, some of it is an attempt to preserve wealth in the face of Central Banks conducting irresponsible monetary policy.

Why would anyone hold Roman Coins that are constantly being shaved. I will take gold which a Central Bank can neither print nor shave.
