Yep, 'ol Bennie is still learning the ropes, I'd say. This moonshot probably isn't what he wanted, and I agree that it will only make his job harder. The more frothy the markets get, the more damage has to be inflicted in the real economy, particularly housing, in order to cool the monetary inflation.

They're reading it as less likely for another hike, but if the markets keep acting up, it'll make it far more likely.

the next meeting is a long time away. it remains to be seen if speculation can stay hot through August.

It can probably stay hot until Paulson cashes out his Goldman shares and the insiders can dump stock on the public who comes in late to the party only to get fleeced once again.
