"So you are disputing that there can be any common ideas that are discoverable independantly"

Reality is experienced or perceived through sensory mechanism. Our senses (that is to say...HOMO SAPIEN senses) are similar in structure. Therefore, our experience of reality is similar. How we interpret that experience is individual but obviously interpretations can be shared and modified through language. A cow means more to you and I than something with a big face and round eyes.

If all knowledge in the world was destroyed and all art and writing eradicated and everyone over 1 day old killed and the children fed through an alien feeding station...their "ideas" would be rudimentary. They will not know the rock as a rock. They might know it as "ooh" or "ih". They will know it is not good to eat and that it can make people stop moving if it lands on their head. And they will wonder why leaves move and will probably imagine that some "spirit" is making the leaves move. Naturally the "spirit" is invisible otherwise they would be able to see it.

Imagine two books with the same story.
The information may be identical, but they are still two separate books.
