"You think the idea of 'rock' was born with me?" Your idea of "rock" probably started to germinate when you were several months old. The rock was there for a long time, one presumes. Your ability to touch it, see it, and so forth (your ideas about the rock) are solely a function of your sense organs and your brain. If you were born with brain damage you may never of course develop any ideas. If your brain was dead--no ideas from you. If all brains were dead--no ideas from anyone. Get it??
