CDMA I95 or 1x vs GSM never has been the strategy. There is just not that much differentiation and GSM had too much of a head start. CDMA's strategy and strength has always been its easy upgrade to 3G. Put EVDO or WCDMA networks against GSM networks and differentiation becomes a potent weapon to turn the tide. However developing countries have not much use for 3G at present and may never have. GSM will hang on here for years to come.
