I see you named some names here, so I'll start with them:

Patty Murray and Barbara Boxer usually top the charts for "Dimmest Bulb in the Senate" in the Washingtonian magazine's biennial survey of congressional staffers, (probably the best-informed people with regard to things like this). The GOP equivalents are said to be Rick Santorum, George Allen, and Jim Inhofe.

If you are speaking of virtually mirror-reverse views, then Tom Coburn and Wayne Allard fit that bill the best, I think.

There are no marginally repentant former KKK members among sitting GOP senators to offset Democrat Robert Byrd. Alaska's Ted Stevens (he of the $250 million "bridge to nowhere fame" certainly has given Byrd a run-for-our-money, and "King of Pork," in recent years.

There simply is no one to compare with Kennedy in the GOP, except perhaps Pat Buchanan, but he doesn't hold office.

John Kerry really isn't particularly special or noteworthy.

It is beginning to look as if Al Gore is the Democrat's Richard Nixon.
