Page and column selection are arbitrary decisions, often reflecting the political slant of a newspaper. There is a good argument to be made that, although the fact that allegations being investigated, the fact that they are thus far only allegations might dictate that the story not be placed in such a prominent place in the newspaper until such time as charges are brought.

I see no reason to believe that, despite the facts that they have not received such attention, similarly serious allegations have been repeatedly made, and investigated, and that many such allegations are known to the New York Times and other publications.
